| Abstract |
In article the basic motives of the reference to Gothic stylistics in Russian empire during a sentimentalism and preromanticism epoch reveal. Also the aesthetic concept of an age of Enlightenment as a whole, and the relation to a medieval European Gothic heritage, in particular, is analyzed. During this period we can see a positive estimation of Gothic style.
Features of the use of the term Gothic in architecture and art of second half of XVIII century are considered. This term then starts to be used in two values: on the one hand as an architectural term, and with the another - as an aesthetic category.
Also the attention is focused on some features of development of a Gothic theme in Russia. Getting to the Russian cultural environment images of medieval architecture, as a rule, are enriched and supplemented with various elements, intertwine with national Russian, classical and baroque motives getting to unique eclectic shape. Special value is got thus by knights theme, a theme of game in travel, and also a theme of the hermetic doctrine of a freemasonry.
