Article	COMPOSITIONAL PROBLEMS OF INHERITANCE IN THE ARCHITECTURE OF HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS OF POSTWAR MOSCOW

Abstract	Many traces of different styles can be recognized in the architecture of high-rise buildings of postwar Moscow and the question of the role of a historical prototype is the most problematic and controversial in it. However, compositional problems of inheritance in the architecture of high-rise buildings have never been the subject of a special study. For most contemporary architects and theorists the legacy of the avant-garde is the most attractive in the history of architecture. In addition to formal-compositional borrowing the manifestation of refuse the heritage is automatically absorbed, understood as the most successful strategy of innovation. The idea, that a prerequisite for the new creation is the rejection of the old, rooted not only in the minds of practicing architects, but in architectural theory too. Consequently the key theoretical problem is reduced to a simple recognition of the prototype that supplies simplified view of the architectural composition and indicates the minor role of inheritance in the creative process.
