Article Artificial intelligence technologies in architectural and urban planning practice, science, and education

Abstract The potential of artificial intelligence (AI) is currently being demonstrated in large-scale technological developments, from "smart home" to "smart cities". This article analyzes trends in the adoption of AI technologies by the practice of architectural design and urban planning. It addresses related issues of personnel training. It also emphasizes that digital literacy is becoming a critical prerequisite for the successful development of the educational process. The results of a survey and understanding of the role of AI in architectural education, research, and practice are examined. Opportunities for the further development and integration of AI technologies into architectural design and urban planning are assessed.
